Paintings by Will Rhodarmer

“I paint for the act of painting and do not abstract from my environment. What I mostly look for in the process are the unintentional visual elements that are revealed through the evidence of the act of painting. The use of a technique of layered color and materials can be scratched through to reveal underlying areas; this aides in my search for a kinetic energy that can excite the visual experience. Isolation of the seemingly obscure and suggesting visual associations with object or idea occurs during the process of arriving at a point of resolution. My paintings are visual realities. Abstraction only happens when the viewer begins to make visual associations with what they are seeing.”
